HCVC Tryout Registration

All athletes must complete the online HCVC Tryout Registration form prior to tryouts. Athletes should register for the age division that corresponds with their birthdate according to USA Volleyball and Ohio Valley Region guidelines. All participants must have an active USA Volleyball membership through SportsEngine and the Ohio Valley Region before stepping onto the court. Athletes who already hold a current membership should verify that it remains active. Athletes without an active membership must purchase the appropriate membership before tryouts.

What to Expect at Tryouts

HCVC tryouts are designed to evaluate athletes in both skill-based drills and competitive game situations. Athletes should arrive prepared to demonstrate: serving, passing, setting, attacking, blocking, defensive, communication, court awareness, and volleyball IQ. In addition to volleyball skills, coaches will evaluate: coachability, work ethic, competitive mindset, team-first attitude, athletic potential, and the ability to apply instruction.

HCVC Team Placement Philosophy

Our goal is not simply to create teams, it’s to place athletes in an environment where they can grow, be challenged, and contribute to team success. Team placement decisions are based on a combination of skill level, athletic ability, effort, attitude, coachability, and overall team needs. We recognize that athletes develop at different rates, and our staff works to place players where they can experience the greatest opportunity for improvement and success. Participation in tryouts does not guarantee placement on a team. HCVC reserves the right to adjust, combine, or cancel age divisions based on registration numbers and overall participation.

After Tryouts

Following the completion of each age group’s tryouts, the HCVC coaching staff will meet to determine team placements. Families will be notified if their player makes a team. They will receive information regarding roster decisions and will receive information regarding: team acceptance, club commitment paperwork, season fees and payment schedules, uniform ordering, and upcoming team activities. Roster spots are not considered finalized until all required paperwork and initial payments have been completed.
